Planning in Kingston
We’ve gathered our team for our first meeting in Jamaica in the hills outside of Kingston on the beautiful patio at Lesley’s home. The skies are clear, there’s a cool breeze and we’re ready to set to work.
The goals for our meeting are to determine who we’d like to interview for the materials we are going to put together, and then put a schedule together of how we want to make that happen. The current plan is for us to attend the celebration for Bob Marley’s birthday at the Museum in Kingston early tomorrow, and then head up to Nine Mile right after that to visit Stepney Primary and Junior High and see what’s going on at the Mausoleum.
We’ll spend the weekend in Nine Mile meeting people and doing interviews with locals, spending the full day at the school on Monday and heading back to Kingston to do the same type of stuff here in the city.
We’re aiming to talk with a diversity of people, from local residents, to government officials, to artists of all kinds, with the aim of spreading the word about Project Nine Mile within Jamaica, as well as, as I wrote before, gathering materials to spread the word beyond these borders.
Our goals are ambitious but our will is strong.
